Project Management and engineering projects, aiming to adapt and requalify the building to a new charming hotel, nearby Douro river. The façade was preserved, once it is a classified building in the historical city zone.
The HVAC solutions included heat recovery with a 4-pipe chiller and fan coils for all bedrooms. Natural ventilation through windows, expect the front façade.
Given the building’s location, a detailed acoustic’s study was carried out with outdoor noise testing as a way to control the indoor noise levels and comply with legislation and acoustic comfort criteria in hotels.
The building’s structure was mostly kept, but two interventions with some degree of difficulty were necessary: connection of the two polos and demolition of structural granite walls, with the application of special techniques of dismantling and reinforcement of these walls.
